Tina Lawson Reveals Meaning Behind Twin’s Name

It’s not so usual to hear a newborn baby’s name coming after a 13th century poet, but it is the case of Persian poet and Philosopher Rumi.

Songstress Beyonce’ Knowles-Carter gave birth to twins last month, a boy and a girl, one of whom she named Rumi (along with twin Sir Carter). No one knew the reason behind the names, until miss Tina Lawson, Beyoncé’s mother, took to Instagram the following post to educate the members of the Beyhive.

Looking at it, it makes sense that Queen Bey chose to name her children after someone who dedicated to living their lives to spirituality, art, and overall, love.
Rumi, which is Persian shorthand for West or Rome, was born in 1207 in present-day
Afghanistan. The Islamic scholar wrote poems that broke boundaries between mind and body, truth and poetry, and divine and human love.
Sir Carter, on the other hand, may have been named after the poet’s most known work.
Bring the pure wine of
Love and freedom.
But sir, a tornado is coming.
More wine, we’ll teach this storm
A thing or two about whirling.
