Jay-Z “4:44”

Released: June 30

Jay-Z’s 13th studio album was rumored to be a response to  Beyonce’s Lemonade album. HOV touched on topics of infidelity in his marriage and his mom being a lesbian. Blue even made her debut on a bonus track! It’s lyrical genius earns the spot of the number one album of 2017.

Kendrick Lamar “Damn”

Released: April 14

Damn was Kendrick Lamar’s 3rd studio album. The album also earned seven Grammy nominations.

Sza “CTRL”

Released: June 2017

Sza burst out on the music scene this year with her hit album “Ctrl”. Her hit single Love Galore quickly became a radio hit. The album also received a Grammy nomination.

2 Chainz “Pretty Girls Like Trap Music”

Released: June 16

2 Chainz’s 3rd album was a major success. The album included features from the Migos and Nicki Minaj. This album had the best marketing tool ever! The Pink Trap House was a major attraction in Atlanta all summer.

Migos “Culture”

Released: January 27

“Does it look like I was left off Bad and Boujee?” was the quote of the year from the trap album of the year. The Migos definitely did it for the culture this year.

Drake “More Life”

Released: March 18

Drake’s 5th studio album was marketed as a playlist and was streamable through all digital platforms.

 

Future “Future” & “HNDRXX”

Released:February 17, 24

Future dropped back to back albums within a week from each other. Mask Off became an instant radio favorite.

Miguel “War and Leisure”

Released: December 1

Miguel’s 3rd album has several features including J.Cole and Rick Ross. The single Skywalker became an instant hit.

Khalid “American Teen”

Released: March 3 

The 19 year old Georgia born R&B artist’s album went platinum. The single Location became an instant favorite.
