The sudden demise of a legendary Bollywood actress Sridevi Kapoor left the industry and fans all over the world in shock. Sridevi was someone who everyone looked up to from her family, friends, to even fans. The actress was in her first Bollywood movie at the age of four, and has been in the industry for five decades. I personally was very saddened by her passing away because ever since I was introduced to her movies, she had become one of my favorite actresses.

Kapoor starred in about 300 movies ranging from many different languages including Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu, and Hindi. The very first appearance that she made was in a role of a boy in a Tamil movie Thunaivan. An actress who was never fluent in Hindi or any other language, proved herself that she can work hard and become the legend that everyone would remember.

Sridevi worked hard and she proved herself when she finished shooting for a movie when she had the flu and a temperature of about 100 degrees. Some of the most legendary movies that she’s starred in are Chandni (1989), Mr. India (1987), and English Vinglish (2012). Producers from all over the world were so impressed by her beauty and her acting that they wanted her to star in their movies.

An unknown fact that I found out when I was reading about her demise was that she was offered a role in the 1995 Hollywood movie Jurassic Park, but Sridevi refused because she thought that she wasn’t the right person to play the role. Kapoor was known as an actress who had the beauty to portray any role that was given to her. She was known for her big eyes, and dancing to the famous song ‘Mere Haathon Mein Nau Nau Chudiyan’ from Chandni and even ‘Hawa Hawai’ from Himmatwala.

Sridevi’s elegance to play every role from being a wife, mother, and actress very passionately, she was nominated for the most prestigious awards that someone could earn in India. In 2013, the Government of India awarded Sridevi the Padma Shri award, the fourth highest civilian accolade for her contributions to the entertainment industry.

Sridevi will always be remembered as the fans’ Chandni. The one who took every role she was offered with excellence. Sridevi Kapoor the true moonlight to the Bollywood film industry, the one who has left a trauma in all our hearts. All that remains of her are her precious moments that she has etched into our hearts forever.
