Chicago Elects First African American and Openly Gay Woman as 56th Mayor

Lori Lightfoot made history by being elected mayor. She is the first African American woman and openly gay person that was elected in Chicago. Lightfoot is set to be sworn in on May 20th.

“Today, you did more than make history, you created a movement for change”, stated Lightfoot to her supporters.
