Atlantans received an exclusive first look at ‘The Bobby DeBarge Story’ at the red carpet premiere screening at the Woodruff Arts Center Tuesday (June 11).
The original TV One film explores the life of Bobby DeBarge, the lead singer of 70s group Switch and the eldest of the Group DeBarge. The film depicts Bobby’s struggle with fame, his chronic drug use, and his time in prison. Greenleaf star , Roshon Fegan, stars as Bobby DeBarge alongside iconic Atlanta rapper, Big Boi, as Berry Gordy, and recording artist Lloyd as Gregory Williams of Switch.
After the private screening, the cast took to the stage for a moderated Q&A session with director Russ Parr. The Q&A session was moderated by minister and radio host Willie Moore Jr. of Praise 104.1.
Director Russ Parr expressed his desire to bring DeBarge’s story to film, to erase the stigma of not coping with trauma or childhood memories. The Bobby DeBarge Story will premiere Saturday, June 29th at 8pm on TV One.
