Everything You Need To Know About Rihanna’s 5th Annual Diamond Ball By: Alexis Hollins

Rihanna Shined Bright Like a Diamond at her annual Diamond Ball this year during New York Fashion Week. Over the past five years the Diamond Ball has become one of the most talked about charity events that takes place over NYFW. Rihanna brings together her conglomerate of A-list celebrity friends to support one cause. During the ball Rihanna allows musicians to perform on stage a variation of top-charted songs.  Even RiRi made a small appearance on stage and performed her song LEMON with Pharrell Williams.

The ball was eloquently decorated with elegant flower arrangements. Nearly everything was first class from the guest list to the program design! Guests included ranged from; rappers Cardi B and husband, Offset, Meghan Thee Stallion, 2 Chainz, A$AP Ferg, Slick Woods, G-Eazy, and many more. The wonderful Wednesday night on Wall Street took place at the Cipriani. Guests were dressed to impress to support Riahanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation. It is a known fact that when one of the biggest fashion icons in the world hosts an event, you show up ready to “snatch souls!”. The goal of the ball is to appear classy, bold and eye-catching, without the excentres of say, ensembles worn at the Met Gala.

Since the founding of CLF in 2011, the foundation has raised over $13 million in grants for education projects and scholarships, emergency response programs and local micro projects, with a focus in the Caribbean. This year the Diamond Ball recognized and honored Mia Mottley, Barbados prime minister, and civil rights activist Shaun King for their humanitarian and social work. While accepting the award Mottley says “I was minister of education when this young girl was in school, and to see her not just set her sights on her career but on building an empire and giving something back in this world — that’s what makes the final difference”.
