Approaching the 10th anniversary of Amy Winehouse’s tragic death; Amy’s parents Janis and Mitch had plans to pay tribute to their beloved daughter in a special way. With plans of an upcoming documentary as well as radio stations paying tribute to the talented star, however it seems Amy’s best pal Tyler James has other ideas.
Tyler James was known as Amy Winehouse’s best friend when she was alive, and now he is making sure that everybody knows just that – and then some. Tyler and Amy met when they were 12 years old at Sylvia Young Theatre School and in his new tell – all book, he highlights the ups and downs in their friendship, also suggesting that he was the only one truly there ‘’fighting her demons’’.
His juicy new book shares his version of events with regards to Amy and the friendship they shared, however Janis and Mitch are apparently feeling ‘betrayed’ and disappointed by his claims. The book is called My Amy: The Life We Shared.
It’s been said that both of Amy’s parents believed that Tyler would be the one friend they could rely on to not sell stories and ‘cash in her fame’, however with the book overshadowing the likes of the documentary, that does not seem to be the case.
Janis and Mitch are disappointed in his decision to publish the events he described, and apparently, they were not contacted prior to the book release. A source has said how the parents of talented artist do ‘’not recognise the singer that Tyler portrays in the book’’.
Although Tyler speaks of the close friendship both him and Amy shared, he fails to mention other close friends, including her fiancé Reg Traviss.
Another source close to the family has said that the book has left ‘’a bad taste in their mouth’’.
