Amidst the recent BBC vs Gary Lineker drama, the controversial debate seems to have left many people, including other celebrities, feeling pretty red faced [with anger].
During a recent interview at the Oscars, Emily in Paris star Lucien Laviscount, made his opinion on the drama and the Conservative government very clear.
Laviscount, the 30 year old actor didn’t hold back when he said ‘f**k the Tories’ whilst making a rude hand gesture during an interview at the Oscars, shown live on air during Good Morning Britain.
The drama in question related to a recent post made by Lineker via Twitter, where he openly criticised a government policy, resulting in the BBC suspending him. Lineker thought they had an ‘’agreement’’, however, so was confused by the backlash of him having to leave his job.
Lineker is said to be back presenting ‘Match of the Day’ after a huge public outrage regarding the tweet he made, along with fellow sports presenters standing down from their roles out of solidarity.
The question is when working for huge, impactful companies such as BBC, although up to now those in contract have to stay neutral.. is there now such a thing of freedom of speech? And how will BBC make that work in their favour?
