Since COVID-19 we have experienced a lot of different changes to society as it comes to social events, life as a whole, and especially the entertainment industry. Virtual events have been the way to go for the evolution of media thus far and we experience another event as such last night with the first-ever Virtual BET Awards. One thing COVID-19 can’t stop is black love and great performances by many of the culture’s great artists including Lil Wayne, Alicia Keys, Megan Thee Stallion, Roddy Ricch, Chloe X Halle, DaBaby, Jay Rock, Jennifer Hudson, Questlove, Nas, Usher, YG, and countless others.

Performances
The standout performance was definitely DaBaby and Roddy Rich with “Rockstar”. The significance was so breathtaking. We saw the imagery of the riots and lots of BLM imagery as well and adding in was a tribute to George Floyd. We are in a delicate period and all of our Black artists are putting an effort to push for change and it’s amazing. Another standout performance was Lil Wayne’s Kobe Bryant tribute which was special due to the loss of the great Kobe Bryant.
