As of June 2nd, 2022, the city of Atlanta will mark June 2 as Jody Watley Day. Jody Vanessa Watley is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, and artist, whose music crosses genres including pop, R&B, jazz, dance, and electronic soul. During the late 1970s and early 1980s she was a member of the r&b/funk band Shalamar, who scored many hits including “Uptown Festival”, “A Night to Remember”, & “Make That Move” .. just to name a few! Jody also was named recipient of Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award in lifelong commitment in building stronger nation through volunteer and community service.
Dr. Jacqueline Mohair the founder of Trinity International University of Ambassadors adds, “There is not a more deserving recipient to receive this honor than Dr. Watley who have paved the way for so many others.”
