A Miss Universe contestant 2024, Magalí Benejam, who represented Argentina, has been stripped of her title after claiming the competition that took place in November, was rigged.
Miss Benejam made the comments regarding the competition during a recent live YouTube broadcast with content creator King Lucho.
The comments that were made were suggesting that the final results of the competition were ‘questionable’ and also spoke of how the whole competition was fake.
She went on to say how ”when they announced the Top 5, I saw the judges looking at each other”, taken from the Latin Times, she carried on with ”They started looking at each other as if to say, ‘This is not what we chose, this is not what I chose.’ That’s what it felt like from the outside and that’s where I said, ‘OK, this is fixed.’ It was always fixed, every year.”
In the live broadcast, she also spoke of winner, Victoria Kjær Theilvig, representing Denmark, and Miss Puerto Rico, Jennifer Colón who placed in the top 12, as having the ”worst” dress of the night and also not very friendly.
Benejam said how she believes Colón could have been nervous but was also ”very much in her element”.
Talking about Theilvig, 21, she said she had her suspicions as the Denmark beauty contestant had security guards with her during the final days of the competition, as well as people telling her the official outcome of the competition at least 10 days prior to the competition ending.
Beginning of this year, on 2nd January, the Miss Universe Organisation officially ‘cut’ Benejam from the community with the statement
“The Miss Universe Organization Announces the Withdrawal of the Miss Universe Argentina Title from Miss Magali Benejam,”
“After a thorough review of recent public comments made by Miss Magali Benejam, and based on our core principles, we have decided to withdraw immediately the title of Miss Universe Argentina from Miss Benejam.”
The organisation insisted that any participants of the competition need to reflect upon ”unwavering principles” such as diversity and inclusion ”regardless of their backgrounds, beliefs or experiences”.
Benejam has not yet taken “Miss Universe Argentina 2024” out of her Instagram bio and has now gone private on her social media [Instagram].
