Since 2007, XXL Magazine has released a cover of 10 hip hop artists who they believe are on the rise. The rappers all come together to rap at a cypher and display their talents. This year’s list has everyone beyond excited.
The artists are: Polo G, Calboy, NLE Choppa, Lil Keed, Chika, Lil Tjay, Baby Keem, Jack Harlow, Mulatto, Rod Wave, Fivio Foreign, and 24k Goldn.
Many of those chosen have expressed how grateful they are for the opportunity. Memphis native, NLE Choppa, dropped a video on Twitter from a year ago of him rapping for XXL Mag despite not being chosen at the time. Now, months later, he is included. Way to manifest that, NLE! Mulatto had a “Mama, I made it!” moment on Instagram because of the achievement. Making it onto the list is no easy thing to do. However, being able to impress thousands of viewers is even harder.
The freshman class had did wonders for many people’s careers and has opened many doors. Tons of people on social media tune into the cypher and give their opinions on everyone’s rhymes.
The launch date is yet to be released, but we are all anticipating the event.
