“That’s bullsh—to me. We need cops and that’s facts,” she tweeted in her now-deleted post. “We just need strict laws for cops.”

She continued to tweet, “If you shot somebody just like civilians you will go to jail that same day, get [charged], wait for bond and go to trial. That will make you think twice about shooting anyone.”

Clarkish Kent, a writer who was to catch the tweet while posted, responded to Cardi B with “Who ‘needs’ cops?”

Other supporters of the “Defund the Police” movement painted Cardi’s comment “we need cops” as a decision to “back the blue” and exclaiming it as ignorant of what the campaign is trying to achieve.

“Cardi. Defund the police does NOT mean ABOLISH the police. It means reallocating money from the police to local municipalities … Stop sending military weapons used in war to police,” a Twitter user replied.

Cardi. Defund the police does NOT mean ABOLISH the police. It means reallocating all the money from the police to local municipalities. To social workers. Housing, education, employment, mental health care, and youth services. Stop sending military weapons used in war to police

Kent tweeted, “What the hell is this,” with a screenshot of Cardi’s tweet. She then proceeded to tweet, “Y’all said ‘abolish’ was too harsh and the comprise was ‘defund’ so what up? Why are your gums still flapping.”

However, some supporters agreed with Cardi’s comment.

“Love to see cardi b utilize common sense with respect to this issue. ‘defund and abolish’ is not a solution to corruption in law enforcement,” a follower tweeted.

The 26-year-old rapper went vocal regarding her opinion that “blue check Republicans” were not saying enough on social media in the events of the police killing of Daunte Wright or the pepper-spraying of Army Lieutenant Caron Nazario.

Cardi posted a video of her on Twitter directly addressing the recent events.

“Ya been real quiet. Twitter Blue check Republicans are a [f—ing] joke. I don’t ever want to see yaa ranting on celebrities, athletes until yall address what’s REALLY WRONG IN AMERICA!” she tweeted last Tuesday night.

“This past week we have seen American lieutenant that served this country get treated like a f—ing dog by cops. Got maced. Got thrown to the floor. Mind you, this man served this country,” Cardi said in the video, referring to Lt. Nazario. Lt. Nazario filed a lawsuit against Virginia police officers who pulled him over and told him he should be afraid once he expressed concern regarding exiting his vehicle.

She then addressed the recent killing of 20-year-old Wright in Minnesota, saying, “We have seen a young man get killed by a cop – unarmed – and the excuse was the cop that had been on duty for 20-plus years mistaked a gun for a taser.”

“My thing is, where the f—are you Twitter blue check Republicans at? Y’all are the loudest on this mother—ing app. Y’all not saying nothing. Y’all not complaining. Y’all blame everything with what’s wrong in America beside the police. Y’all have been very silent. What’s going on?,” she continued to say in the clip.
