Rihanna R9 won’t feature reggae artist Shaggy. The dancehall artist revealed in an interview with Britain’s Daily Star that Riri’s team reached out to him to audio to be featured, “They approached me for the Rihanna project. There’s a lot of great people involved, but for me, I didn’t need to audition to be on the record, I’ll leave that to younger guys”.
In the interview he also feels Rihanna’s venture into dancehall/ reggae music is “healthy competition”.
Fans have been waiting on her next studio album since 2016. In an interview with Vogue she revealed that the album would be “reggae-inspired or reggae-infused”. She stated that the album would be released last year but soon pushed the date back and has been teasing fans ever since.
