Christina Aguilera will be honored with the Spirit of Hope award at the 2022 Billboard Latin Music Awards to take place Thursday, Sept. 29, at the Watsco Center in Miami.
The special award was established back in 1996 in honor of the late Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla. This year, it will be given to Aguilera for her philanthropic and humanitarian contributions beyond her musical work.
The pop singer will also perform during the ceremony that is to be broadcasted live on Telemundo beginning at 7 p.m. ET. and will be simulcast on Telemundo, Universo, Peacock, the Telemundo App, and throughout Latin America and the Caribbean on Telemundo Internacional.
Some past recipients include Gloria Estefan, Willy Chirino, Olga Tañon, Maná, Los Tigres del Norte, Ricky Martin, El General, Juan Luis Guerra, Shakira, Ricardo Montaner, Juanes, Daddy Yankee, Marc Anthony, Carlos Vives, Carlos Satana, Luis Fonsi, and Maluma.
Aguilera is known not only for her successful music career but also for raising her voice to fight the cycle of domestic abuse and for being a longtime supporter of the LGBTQ+ community.
She has also helped raise awareness about HIV/AIDS research and traveled the globe to help feed children in poverty.
