For the second consecutive year, the Rockies have secured two wins against the Dodgers, only this time around it’s been two straight games. While Friday saw the Rockies receive a resounding defeat to the Dodgers with a score of 7-1, Saturday gave Colorado their chance to recover with a 4-3 win.
The Dodgers’ first 2026 loss against a NL West Team must have come as a surprise to the team, since it led to backup catcher Dalton Rushing implying their opponents were cheating. An interview with Rushing on Saturday had him claiming there was something “a little fishy” going on with the Rockies’ hitters.
Dalton Rushing said it was ‘a little fishy’ how the #Rockies hitters were swinging at the first pitch and connecting. Rushing found it very odd.

The Dodgers manager, Dave Roberts, was quick to shut this accusation down, responding that he saw some “bad breaking balls” and “bad pitches.”
Dave Robert’s just addressed this in pregame media with us:

Dalton’s comments seem odd considering how well he did, since he launched his fifth home run this season. Besides, Roberts himself noted the poor performance of closer Edwin Diaz, with four saves and ten strikeouts, giving up three runs without recording any outs. It’s since been announced that he’s scheduled to undergo surgery on his right elbow to remove loose bodies.
The Rockies proved their Saturday win wasn’t just a fluke the very next day with a 9-6 victory. This marks the first time in four years the Colorado team has landed two consecutive wins against the Dodgers.
The Sunday game also marks the fewest number of walks Michael Lorenzen has given up since he debuted with the Rockies back in March this year. While the last two times he played, he allowed two walks each game, this time around, Lorenzen allowed only one walk over five innings. He struck out three walks, and allowed three runs on seven hits, limiting the Dodgers to three runs of their own.
Sunday was also the first earned run Antonio Senzatela gave up this season, and he secured the final out with a catch by Mickey Moniak in left field. His 2023 Tommy John surgery (or Ulnar Collateral Ligament Reconstruction) has given Senzatela a difficult time since, and he was moved to relief late August last year. While he could have regained his spot in rotation this year, he was ultimately returned to the bullpen, where he’s been thriving with a velocity that’s risen to 90.6 mph.
Moniak, along with Kyle Karros and Troy Johnston, all got in two hits, with Karros hitting his first home run this season. Ultimately, it was Johnston who secured the team’s victory with a diving catch to wrap the game up. The loss prevents the Dodgers from winning their first series against the Rockies, regardless of Monday’s results.
